Our world is being disrupted, but for many of us, it’s still business as usual. Spring Break is almost over. Teachers and students are quarantined to their homes for classes. As teachers or parents, it’s time to be flexible, grow in our skills, and find new ways to reach children.
Canva is a great tool for creating fun designs for a variety of projects. With students now working from home computers, I think it’s the perfect time to create new desktop organizers as a fun assignment for computer students. If we have to work from home, we might as well get organized and have fun doing it!
Start by creating an account, if you don’t already have one, at Canva.com. Teachers get free Pro accounts and can add up to 30 students. Next, go to your Settings, then System, and look to see the size of your display monitor. You’ll create your image to fit your monitor screen. My laptop is 1366 x 768. This means that instead of using one of the great Canva template sizes, you’ll click Create A Design and then Custom Dimensions. Add your width and height dimensions, leaving the option to pixels (px). Now that you have your canvas, you’re ready to create!
